What We Do
Africa Volunteer Corps (AVC) unites passionate, qualified Africa volunteers with African social good organizations to deepen their impact and empower Africans to play a vital role in shaping Africa’s future.
The Results
Volunteers benefit from the opportunity to gain on-the-job experience and improve their professional skills. Organizations benefit from having extra assistance in the form of Volunteers. Communities benefit from the increased impact of local organizations. Together, they shape the place they care most about: Africa.
As of Today
27 Volunteers have gone through the AVC Program
17 of them now have jobs
3 of them are back in school
1 has started their own project
13 more Volunteers are currently enrolled in the program!
The Plan for the Future
We are currently in our pilot phase, which is taking place in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. Our Volunteers work for one year as an employee of a local organization and receive a living stipend paid by AVC. In 2015 we will accept our fourth class of Volunteers. We plan to increase the number of Volunteers and local development organizations by 10 each year. In the next five years, we hope to expand to another African country and eventually create a presence all over Africa.
